The Three Service Levels

Measure 2D: Basic Measurement & Floorplans

What you get:

  • On-site laser measurement of key dimensions
  • 2D floorplans (DWG format)
  • Accurate to ±5–10mm
  • Turnaround: 5–7 days

Best for:

  • Early-stage planning and feasibility studies
  • Projects where 2D drawings are sufficient
  • Budget-conscious clients
  • Small to medium spaces

Example use case: A restaurant owner wants to understand the layout of a potential new location before committing to a lease. Measure 2D provides accurate floorplans for space planning without the cost of a full 3D capture.

Capture 3D: Full 3D with Elevations & Visuals

What you get:

  • Complete 3D laser scan of the space
  • 2D floorplans and elevations (DWG format)
  • Full Revit model (BIM-ready)
  • Photorealistic visuals
  • Accurate to ±2–4mm
  • Turnaround: 7–10 days

Best for:

  • Renovation and refurbishment projects
  • BIM workflows and detailed design
  • Projects requiring elevations and 3D geometry
  • Heritage and complex buildings

Example use case: An architectural firm is designing a major office refurbishment. Capture 3D provides a complete 3D model of the existing space, enabling accurate design and clash detection.

Showcase: Digital Twin Walkthrough

What you get:

  • Everything in Capture 3D, plus:
  • Second scan after project completion
  • Photorealistic 3D walkthrough
  • Navigable digital twin
  • Ready for client presentations and marketing
  • Accurate to ±2–4mm
  • Turnaround: 14–21 days (including post-completion scan)

Best for:

  • Completed renovation projects
  • Marketing and client handover
  • Projects where visual presentation is important
  • Buildings with high-profile clients or investors

Example use case: A hotel has completed a major renovation. Showcase provides a photorealistic digital walkthrough that can be shared with guests, investors, and stakeholders before the building officially opens.

Decision Framework

Ask yourself these questions:

1. Do I need 3D geometry or just 2D drawings?

- If 2D is sufficient → Measure 2D

- If 3D is needed → Capture 3D or Showcase

2. Will the drawings be used for detailed design?

- If yes → Capture 3D or Showcase

- If no → Measure 2D

3. Is this a BIM project?

- If yes → Capture 3D or Showcase

- If no → Measure 2D or Capture 3D

4. Do I need a visual presentation of the finished space?

- If yes → Showcase

- If no → Measure 2D or Capture 3D

5. What is my budget?

- Tight budget → Measure 2D

- Medium budget → Capture 3D

- Premium budget → Showcase

Typical Project Scenarios

Scenario 1: Office Refurbishment

A facilities manager needs to plan a major office refurbishment. They need:

  • Accurate existing conditions (3D geometry)
  • Elevations for design
  • BIM model for coordination
  • Recommendation: Capture 3D

Scenario 2: Heritage Building Assessment

A conservation architect is assessing a historic building for potential restoration. They need:

  • Complete geometric record
  • Elevations and details
  • Permanent digital record
  • Recommendation: Capture 3D

Scenario 3: Retail Space Planning

A retailer is considering a new location and needs to understand the layout before committing to a lease. They need:

  • Basic floorplan
  • Quick turnaround
  • Budget-conscious approach
  • Recommendation: Measure 2D

Scenario 4: Hotel Renovation Marketing

A hotel has completed a major renovation and wants to showcase the completed project to guests and investors. They need:

  • Complete 3D record
  • Photorealistic visuals
  • Marketing material
  • Recommendation: Showcase
